The 10-year agreement with Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd (RCCL) covers 142 Wartsila engines on 36 cruise ships.
Wartsila says the deal, which includes a subcontract with ABB Turbocharging, is one of its largest with a marine customer.
The Finnish engine giant will provide a broad range of services including condition, technical support, development and design of new components as well as spare parts.
ABB Turbocharging will work a customised service package for the turbochargers on the vessels, including scheduled and unscheduled spare parts and labour.
“By combining the knowledge from the customer’s side with the knowledge and experience from Wartsila and ABB, we made this agreement a reality,” said Kimmo Kohtamäki, director of 4-stroke engines at Wartsila.
“The contract will enhance the predictability of Royal Caribbean’s operational costs, minimise scheduled and unscheduled maintenance costs as well as optimise the planning of maintenance and spare parts deliveries.”
Last week Wartsila signed an extensive three-year services supply agreement with the Norwegian offshore vessel owner DOF Group.
The agreement covers services for all Wartsila equipment, including engines and propulsion as well as electrical and automation systems operating in Norway, Brazil and Singapore.
About 30 of DOF Group’s 70 offshore vessels have Wartsila equipment on board, including Wartsila 34, 32, 26, 20 and Wichmann engines.
