(www.MaritimeCyprus.com) Today, September 25, marks this year’s annual ‘World Maritime Day’, with the theme for this year having been designated as ‘International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Conventions: Effective Implementation’, in a bid to shine a spotlight on those IMO treaty instruments that have not yet entered into force, as well those for which ratification by more States and more effective implementation would yield significant benefits.

The Cyprus Shipping Chamber has formally welcomed the arrival of the day and, coinciding this year with its 25th anniversary since its inception, will be spearheading an information campaign geared toward the public, relating details of its community-conscious projects, as well as the continued contribution of the shipping sector towards the wider economy.

Further to presenting details of the philanthropic and social efforts of the CSC that have been nurtured for over two decades, details will also be released of recruitment opportunities in the shipping sector as well as the CSC ventures promoting careers in shipping.

According to an official statement, the CSC hopes to underscore the vital contribution the shipping sector makes to Cyprus overall, as well as simultaneously spreading the message that shipping’s true essence extends far further than merely transferring passengers and cargo: it spread the message of the importance of social solidarity far and wide.
