Favorable weather conditions allowed Meyer Werft to float out Genting Dream on Friday, a day earlier than planned.

The 151,300gt newbuild, first for Asia's Dream Cruises, the new Genting Hong Kong premium brand, emerged from the Papenburg yard's covered building dock II.

The shipyard said in a statement that over the last few weeks it “has been busy conducting extensive tests, interior work and machinery trials”.

Various tests and trials will be carried out in the coming days, ahead of the ship's conveyance along the Ems River, scheduled for mid-September. Genting Dream’s conveyance down the river Ems towards the North Sea, where it will prove its seaworthiness, is scheduled for mid-September 2016.

The GENTING DREAM 151,300gt cruise ship has a length overall of 335m and is 39.70m wide she  can carry 3,370 passengers in 1,680 cabins, most of them with balcony.

Dream Cruises is Genting Hong Kong’s new cruise line, catering to the large and rapidly growing high-end market in China and Asia. Genting Dream will debut from its dual homeports of Guangzhou (Nansha) and Hong Kong in November this year. The second in its class named GENTING WORLD will be completed in November 2017.

  1. Look an interesting vessel?
Some information on where the vessel is registered, class and power plant etc., would be of interest.
It appears "Hong Kong," companies are taking the "war," for the cruise market directly into the cruise operators camp.:-)
