(www.MaritimeCyprus.com) The UK Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) has published its Annual Report for 2019 highlighting the work of the branch during the past year.
Statistics
In 2019 MAIB raised 1222 reports of marine accidents and incidents and commenced 22 investigations in 2019, compared with 1227 reports and 23 investigations started in 2018.
Tragically, 13 investigations involved loss of life.
Equally important is that 2019 was also a year of significant change as the MAIB prepared to operate independently of the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA)
