(www.MaritimeCyprus.com) Keeping updated on new and retroactive requirements from IMO can be a challenge. In this regard, amendments to SOLAS and relevant codes, which enter into force in 2021, are summarized below as a reminder to Owners/Managers.

The most important are 2:

The Cyber Security Requirement, by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) resolution. It states that, no later than a ship’s first annual Document of Compliance audit after 1 January 2021, every Safety Management System must be documented as having included cyber risk management, in line with the International Safety Management Code.

EU Ship Recycling Regulation (SRR). Shipowners / Managers / Operators are urged to ensure compliance with the EU SRR by having onboard their vessels a Statement of Compliance and an IHM when calling EU Ports, by 01 Jan 2021.

The below information is recommended for the Technical, Safety, Quality and Operation departments of shipping companies, but there is also information relevant for yards and newbuilding departments.
