LMZ Shipping is looking for a Marine, Safety & Quality Superintendent, for their Limassol office. Responsible for handling all marine and safety activities under his/her responsibility, whilst assisting the DPA/CSO on matters related to the vessels as well as the company’s
SMS. Performs ISM/ISPS/MLC audits as needed. Analyses reports, audit results, near misses and RIGHTSHIP inspections. Ensures all vessels comply with all relevant regulations and safety standards. Endeavors to continuously improve systems for ensuring marine safety and compliance within the company and industry standards onboard company ships as well as shoreside. Ensuring maintenance in holds and deck.

Responsibilities:

  • Communication with fleet vessel and correspond to any deficiency on board
  • Correspond to Emergency Response
  • Provide marine related information to vessels for safety of operations and pollution prevention and ensures that all safety, marine and quality activities of the company are, at all times, in full compliance with the industry and the company standards
  • Provides and maintains sailing instruction, collects technical information on weather and environmental protection, and notifies ships affected by information gathered
  • Custodian of documents and papers required by Manual to be under his care
  • Prepare training plans for shore staff and seamen
  • Conducts Marine inspections and internal ISM, ISPS and MLC audits on ships. Identifies areas for improvement and verifies implementation of the corrective and preventive action arise from external Safety, Flag, Rightship, PSC inspections, internal audits, near misses, incidents/accidents
  • Monitor the voyage and operational performance of assigned vessels aiding the Master as necessary, concerning holds preparation/cleaning, cargo instructions and guidelines, supply of paints, chemicals and proper manning, to ensure that the vessels maintain
    their performance
  • Co-ordinate the provision of specialist advice on all marine and operational issues to vessels and office staff
  • Evaluate vessel requirements with regard to mooring ropes, marine and safety equipment
  • Monitor charts and publication supply to vessels, ensuring corrections and updates are available to vessel
  • Assist the Operations Department in all matters related to vessels operations, voyage and cargo
  • Additional duties as may be detailed by the DPA/CSO, dictated by the situational or operational demands

Minimum qualifications:

  • Master’s Certificate of Competency with 5 years experience in Senior Ranks on board
  • 3 years’ experience in Senior Ranks on board preferably Bulk Carriers
  • Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively
  • Fluent in English Language
  • Preferably experience in safety/quality management
  • Team player
  • Pleasant personality
  • Good in handling computer software (excel, power point, e-filing)
