(www.MaritimeCyprus.com) Oldendorff Carriers have implemented the electronic Oil Record Book (ε-ORB) from Prevention at Sea onboard their fleet.

During the first year of successful usage of the electronic Oil Record Book (ε-ORB) the main advantages which has been highlighted are;

  1. Built-in logics help seafarers in ensuring regulatory compliance by avoiding wrong entries and eliminating risk of detention or fines.
  2. Alert functions notifying office personnel for uncommon recorded operations which require investigation.
  3. Benchmarking & diagnostics for shaping the fleet environmental profiling.
  4. One central repository for all log books available online – ensure daily access and trend analytics for ship owner, including warnings on non-compliance.
  5. Customized to each vessel.

The electronic log books are all certified by the major class societies and accepted by all major flags as equivalent and more efficient replacement of paper based log books, following the MARPOL amendments for e-log books which came in effect on 1st October 2020.

Mr O’Neil Pereira Senior Safety and Security Manager - Projects at Oldendorff Carriers said: ‘As one of the leading bulk operators in the world, in Oldendorff, we believe implementing electronic log books is part of our endavour to further improve the technical and operational efficiency of our modern fleet of eco-ships. We believe the electronic log books from Prevention at Sea will help us in our digitalization focus for ship operation and support our vision on efficiency and maintaining the highest safety and environmental standards.’

Founder and CEO of Prevention at Sea ltd, Mr Petros Achtypis stated ‘We are very proud that Oldendorff Carriers, as part of their ‘digitalization’ strategy, have expressed their trust in our electronic Oil Record Book. Undoubtedly, Oldendorff Carriers’ decision evidences their determination to ‘go paperless’ complying with the MARPOL amendments for e-log books constituting an important milestone and step forward supporting the industry to digitize more of the day-to-day operations.’
