The Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI) is seeking to recruit a qualified applicant for the position of Technology Support Technician, situated in Larnaca. Applicants are expected to have a physical presence at the CMMI offices in Larnaca.

The Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute is a Centre of Excellence for marine and maritime research, innovation and technology development and has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program and matching funding from the Government of the Republic of Cyprus.

Job description

The Technology Support Technician will be responsible to support employees of CMMI with their day-to-day ICT needs and maintain the ICT equipment of the Institute. The technician’s duties will include among other: user support, acquiring of ICT hardware and software, providing appropriate training and guidance to staff on technology matters.

More specifically, the successful candidate will be expected to be:

  • Support CMMI employees in the use of hardware and software, such personal laptops, MS Windows, MS Office, and other software related to the Institute’s activities.
  • Maintain communication software MS Teams, and collaboration repositories such as SharePoint
  • Set up new users on company systems, prepare and deliver their ICT equipment
  • Place orders for new ICT equipment needs such personal laptops
  • Assist with technology aspects in the organisation of the CMMI’s events like workshops and conferences
  • Work with and seek advice from senior ICT personnel on complex matters

Qualifications and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree or experience in a related field will be considered an advantage
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, and other Microsoft products
  • Preferable knowledge of Automation, and basic Cyber Security
  • Good communicator who works well independently and within a team
  • 2-3 years of experience
