Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Handling insurance claims from initiation to resolution, following company policies and industry best practices.
  • Conduct thorough investigations and assessments of claims, gathering all relevant information, documentation, and evidence.
  • Analyze policy terms, conditions, and exclusions to determine the scope and validity of claims.
  • Collaborate with policyholders/underwriters, surveyors, lawyers etc to facilitate the claims process.
  • Negotiate settlements with claimants and other involved parties for a cost-effective resolution.
  • Maintain accurate claims records, documentation, and reports.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, legal developments, and international conventions related to marine insurance and claims handling.

The Insurance Claims Handler is directly accountable to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) or their backup during their absence.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent industry experience.
  • Knowledge of marine insurance principles, policies, and procedures.
  • Experience in marine claims handling.
  • Familiarity with relevant maritime laws, regulations, and international conventions.
  • Communication and negotiation abilities, both written and verbal.
  • Organizational skills.
