
P&O Maritime is currently looking for Greek and English speaking Tug Master to command safely any Tug Boat within our fleet. Our Tug Boats are used to assist the movement of vessels mainly within the Port of Limassol.
The job holder will be required to operate any Tug Boat providing safe towage and vessel assist operations, to maintain high standards of customer service to all shipping lines by promptly following instructions from the clients and Pilots, enhancing the image of P&O Maritime. The job holder will also be required to follow health, safety, environmental and quality procedures as per P&O Maritime Global standards. As a member of our operational team, the job holder will be working on a rotational roster including shifts that ensure the port service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Key responsibilities include:
- To command any Tug Boat independently within a roster system or as required.
- To ensure the Tugs are always well maintained and kept clean for immediate use.
- To provide towage assistance for vessels.
- Placing and positioning of buoys as required.
- To maintain tug towlines and ensure its correct usage during tug operations.
- To practice the correct and effective operation of tug firefighting and oil pollution equipment ensuring optimum readiness during any emergency requiring its use.
- Maintain log books, records and reports as required by P&O Maritime, Classification, Flag, National and International Maritime Laws.
- To fully comprehend the importance of tug surveys, maintenance, reporting and responsibilities of a Tug Master.
- To follow and implement health, safety, environmental and quality procedures as per P&O Maritime Global standards.
Qualifications:
- SCTW certificate of competency as a Master or minimum Chief Officer of vessel (STCW A II/2) with the ability to obtain a Cyprus flag state endorsement.
- Relevant experience of minimum 2 years and/or experience at a senior position on-board offshore vessel.
- Tug experience as Master Mariner would be considered as an advantage.
- Voith Schneider Propeller (VSP) and/or Azimuth Stern Drive (ASD) experience would be considered as an advantage.
- Fluent in Greek and English Languages, both speaking and writing is a MUST.
- Excellent communication skills with strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Problem-solving ability.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Ability to adapt to a changing and challenging environment.
- Capable to work under stress in emergency cases and strict deadlines.
