Columbia Shipmanagement is seeking for a highly skilled and experienced Legal Officer with a deep understanding of maritime law and regulations. The Legal Officer (Maritime) will be part of the Legal Team who is responsible for all legal matters (Marine & Corporate) of the Group. The Legal Officer (Maritime) will be responsible for marine legal matters which includes review/drafting of management agreements, repair agreements, ship finance documents and other related agreement/contracts. The Legal Officer (Maritime) will report to the Legal Counsel, the Group General Manager Insurance & Legal and Group General Manager Claims & Legal.
Responsibilities:
- Review, draft, and negotiate contracts related to maritime operations, including Management Agreements, repair contracts, vessel leases, and ship finance documents.
- Communicating with the Group General Manager Insurance & Legal, Group General Manager Claims & Legal, Management, various law firms, auditors, advisors and other external parties.
- Ensuring that the files of the Legal section are well kept and frequently updated.
- Implementing effectively the Company’s Management System.
- Contributing to the development of new or the amendment of existing procedures.
- Promoting and supporting efforts for continual improvement.
- Undertaking special tasks and projects that might be assigned by the Top Management.
Qualifications:
- A university degree in Law and Postgraduate University degree in Maritime Law.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience practicing maritime law.
- Strong computer skills and working knowledge of MS Office applications.
- Ability to work within a team.
- Very good written and verbal language skills in Greek and English.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- In-depth knowledge of international maritime conventions and regulations.
- Familiarity with maritime industry practices and terminology.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
