This position works closely with the Manager in monitoring the Quality & Safety function of the Ship & shore employees, identify shortfalls and enhance compliance.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Review the Safety, Environmental and quality procedures from time to time, compare it within the industry and update as applicable
  • Making Safety & Environmental safety an integral part of the day to day operations.
  • Safety Gear – review, identify the best safety gear and standardise the same across the fleet
  • Plan safety & environmental safety campaigns, initiation and follow-ups
  • Work closely with the technical team to ensure campaigns are conducted and adhered to on all vessels
  • Bring in innovation and new ideas to enhance the Q&S aspect within the fleet
  • Devise quality and safety programs like other competitors and clients in the market
  • Maintaining and revising the Quality Management & Shipboard manuals from time to time
  • Organising internal audits by ensuring an annual calendar is published within the company
  • Maintain audit checklists and review manual references to ensure the latest regulatory requirements are incorporated and correctly interpreted
  • Organise document control and maintain all system records
  • Ensure follow-up action plans are in place after all audits and corrective action is implemented
  • Monitor all environmental reports received from ships to help ensure that they are received timely and are accurate
  • Liaise with shipmasters about various Safety, Navigation and Environmental issues
  • Assist in the collating of environmental data submitted by ships for internal purposes as well as external reporting to Classification societies

Job Experience and Qualifications

  • Preferably Degree or Diploma holder in Science / Mathematics along with relevant working experience in the shipping industry
  • 0-1 year of relevant working experience
  • Excellent knowledge in MS Office and Microsoft 365
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
