
The Vessel Manager/ Superintendent is responsible for the overall management and operations of assigned cruise ships within the cruise shipping management company. They are the key point of contact for all vessel-related matters and ensure the seamless coordination between technical, operational, and commercial aspects. The Vessel Manager/ Superintendent reports directly to the Head of Vessel Operations.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of assigned cruise ships, ensuring adherence to company
policies, industry regulations, and safety standards. - Coordinate with various departments, including Technical, Marine, Hotel, and Commercial, to
optimize vessel performance and guest satisfaction. - Monitor and assess the technical and operational performance of the vessels, identifying
areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions. - Develop and implement maintenance plans, strategies, and budgets for vessel systems and
equipment. - Collaborate with the client to execute cruise itineraries, including port calls, guest services, and onboard activities.
- Manage relationships with port authorities, vendors, and service providers to ensure smooth
operations at various ports of call. - Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies, recommending upgrades and
innovations to enhance vessel operations. - Prepare reports and presentations on vessel performance, operational activities, and budget
compliance. - Participate in incident investigations, implementing necessary measures to prevent
recurrence. - Provide leadership and guidance to onboard teams, fostering a culture of operational
excellence and continuous improvement. - Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including SOLAS, ISM Code, and other
applicable standards.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in the maritime industry, with a focus on vessel management and technical
operations. - Strong knowledge of ship systems, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
- Proven leadership and management skills, with the ability to drive operational efficiency and
effectiveness. - Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and
meet deadlines. - Familiarity with financial management and budgeting principles.
- Willingness to travel and spend time onboard assigned vessels as required.
