Prevention at Sea is an LR ISO 9001 & 27001 multi-awarded marine risk assessment company that offers maritime services for quality assurance as well as maritime software products with the aim to ensure fleet management optimization and data-driven decision making via paperless ship logs/records and big data analytics.

Job Outline

We are currently seeking to recruit a Product Maritime Business Analyst to be a part of our growing Product team. The ideal candidate will be reporting to the Product Owner/Subject Matter Expert, be responsible for the requirement gathering, drafting of product documentation and assisting designers and developers to implement new products and product features.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collect, analyse, document and communicate the business requirements related to the company’s maritime software products such as the MORSE electronic ship logbooks web platform (Deck, ER, Oil Record, Ballast etc) and the RH Manager for the monitoring of work/rest hours on board ships.
  • Manage requirements throughout the software’s development life cycle.
  • Convert business requirements into functional specifications.
  • Handle product change requests.
  • Keep records of versioning, features, client requests.
  • Initiate and input to the product vision across the team.
  • Daily interaction with the Maritime and Software departments.
  • Train and support other departments on new products and features.
  • Research and review maritime regulations and requirements.
  • Implement UI/UX best practices using prototyping and design tools (i.e. moqups, figma).
  • Report and communicate key insights, technical issues or questions/findings to the dedicated team members.
  • Constantly be on the lookout for ways to improve monitoring, discover issues and deliver better value to the customer.
  • Participate in technical product presentations to clients.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • BSc/BA in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and to learn independently.
  • Documentation and visualization master - provide consistent requirement documentation.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to propose smart solutions.
  • Strong computer literacy and proficient in using Microsoft Office.
  • High organizational and detail-oriented mindset with good time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Nice to have:

  • Shipping Studies or proven sea service.
  • Proven experience in business analysis.
  • Proven experience in Moqups/FIGMA software.
