Key Responsibilities:
Chartering and Freight Management:
o Manage and negotiate the chartering of vessels for the transportation of commodities including wood, steel, grains, gypsum, animal feed, and cereals.
o Negotiate freight rates and terms of contracts to ensure the most competitive pricing for clients while maintaining high-quality service.
o Coordinate with shipowners, charterers, and operators to facilitate the smooth operation of voyages, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
o Provide strategic advice to clients on market trends, vessel availability, and optimal shipping routes.
Market Analysis and Business Development:
o Perform detailed market research and analysis on commodity shipping trends, particularly within the Mediterranean and global trade lanes.
o Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand the company's portfolio in key markets.
o Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including shipowners, commodity traders, and other industry partners.
Operational Oversight:
o Supervise the end-to-end execution of shipping contracts, from negotiation through to delivery.
o Ensure adherence to all relevant maritime regulations and industry standards.
o Resolve any disputes or issues that may arise during the chartering process in a professional and timely manner.
Team Leadership and Mentoring:
o Provide guidance and mentoring to junior brokers and support staff to foster a high-performing team environment.
o Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement the company’s long-term growth strategy.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
1. Revenue Growth:
o Achieve annual revenue targets by closing high-value chartering deals across all relevant commodity sectors.
o Maintain a portfolio of high-value clients and increase customer retention rates by 15% year-over-year.
2. Business Development:
o Identify and secure at least 3-5 new major clients annually from key markets such as Greece, Turkey, and the Middle East.
o Develop a pipeline of new business opportunities with a conversion rate of 25% or higher.
3. Cost Efficiency:
o Negotiate freight rates that deliver at least a 10% reduction in costs for clients compared to industry benchmarks.
4. Client Satisfaction:
o Achieve a client satisfaction rating of 90% or above by consistently delivering timely, efficient, and cost-effective chartering services.
5. Operational Efficiency:
o Minimize voyage delays or operational interruptions, with less than 5% of voyages experiencing significant delays.
6. Market Penetration:
o Increase market share in the Mediterranean region by at least 10% within the first year.
o Secure contracts in emerging markets, with at least 2 new contracts annually in regions outside the Mediterranean.
7. Compliance and Risk Management:
o Ensure that 100% of chartering deals comply with international maritime regulations and company policies.
o Maintain an incident-free track record in operational and legal matters.
Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum 10 years of experience as a Chartering Broker specializing in wood, steel, grains, gypsum, animal feed, and cereals.
Proven track record of negotiating and closing high-value shipping contracts.
In-depth knowledge of freight market dynamics, vessel types, and the specific requirements of the commodity sectors mentioned.
Strong relationships with shipowners, operators, and commodity traders.
Ability to analyze market trends and provide strategic advice to clients.
Fluent in both Greek and English, with excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Preferred Candidate Profile:
Experience working in the Mediterranean, particularly in Cyprus, Greece, or surrounding regions.
Strong business acumen with the ability to grow and manage a profitable portfolio.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Willingness to relocate to Cyprus (relocation support provided for Greek candidates)
