(www.MaritimeCyprus.com) The Cyprus Shipping Chamber is thrilled to announce that its Board of Directors has unanimously chosen Alexandros Josephides, the Chamber’s current Deputy Director General, as the next Director General! Josephides will take the helm from Thomas A. Kazakos, who is set to begin his exciting new role as Secretary General of the International Chamber of Shipping in London on April 1, 2025.
With an impressive 30 years of dedicated service to the Chamber, Josephides brings a wealth of expertise and leadership. He holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and began his career as a Mechanical Engineer in 1986, gaining valuable experience across the United States, Cyprus, and Libya. In 1992, he joined the Cyprus Register of Shipping, where he was trained as a ship inspector.
In 2015, Josephides was honored with the prestigious appointment of "Maritime Goodwill Ambassador" for Cyprus by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), following a proposal from the Cyprus Shipping Administration. This role, which he continues to fulfill with passion, involves inspiring young people to pursue careers in the dynamic maritime and shipping industries.
With Josephides’ extensive experience and visionary leadership, the Cyprus Shipping Chamber is poised for an exciting new chapter of growth and success!
