
(www.MaritimeCyprus.com) Several countries are included to the USCG's Black List after that country's ports were found to have insufficient anti-terrorism measures - a move that requires US bound vessels calling there to exercise special care.
The U.S. Coast Guard updated the list of countries not maintaining effective anti-terrorist measures in their ports, adding Cuba to the list.
The sanctions will take effect for vessels visiting these Black Listed countries ports which intend to then visit at a US port in one of its five subsequent calls. Pls check the list of countries and if you have a port of call in those countries prior to your visit in US port, then follow all below instructions accordingly.
Among steps that masters must take to ensure compliance with the Coast Guard regulation are to step up vessel security to MarSec 2 standards, guard all access points to the ship (land and water side), and attempt of execute a Declaration of Security and log all security actions in the ship’s log and finally report actions taken to the cognizant U.S. Coast Guard Captain of the Port prior to arrival in the U.S.
