Liberia Flag Administration launches new CIC on Maritime Notices compliance

(www.MaritimeCyprus.com) The Liberia Flag Administration has launched a Concentrated Inspection Campaign to make sure all Liberian-flagged vessels and their associated parties follow the country's marine notices, especially those concerning safety. The campaign's main goal is to verify that the vessel, its crew, and the onshore management meet all Liberian legal requirements.

Key Parties Responsibilities 

  • Vessel Operators and Designated Persons Ashore (DPA): These parties are responsible for making sure all required documents are onboard and ready for inspection. They must also preserve and provide evidence of communication upon request. Furthermore, they need to ensure the crew is knowledgeable about Liberian regulations and prepared to demonstrate compliance.
  • Recognized Organizations (ROs): These are organizations authorized to conduct audits and surveys on behalf of the Liberian Administration. During management system audits, they are tasked with using the Inspection Campaign’s criteria to verify that Liberian legislation has been properly implemented.
  • Ship Operators: The Administration encourages operators to use this campaign as a reminder to ensure the readiness of both their onshore organization and the crew. They must verify that all documentation on their ships is correctly maintained in line with applicable rules and regulations.

Key advice

Recognized Organizations will use this CIC during management system audits in order to verify implementation of Liberian legislation.

The Administration strongly encourages ship operators to use this Advisory as a reminder of the importance of ensuring the readiness of the shore organization and crew.
