Overall Job Purpose:

Responsibility for claims handling performance of the Syndicate Manager’s claims team, staff development, management, and motivation.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • The allocation, monitoring and supervision of claims work to ensure service levels are met, and that such work is carried out in accordance with the procedures, objectives, and ethos of the company.
  • To process major claims in line with company operating procedures.
  • To brief the Claims Director responsible for Cyprus and the Syndicate Head of Claims in respect of any significant developments involving significant claims, as well as other issues involving the team such as training needs, travel, progression, and motivation for self-improvement.
  • To act as the team leader of the claims team in Cyprus and guide the claims handlers where appropriate.
  • To facilitate effective communication of claims handling issues within the Syndicate Manager’s claims team.
  • To ensure correct upkeep of the claim’s files within their team, including filing, claims reserves and the overall management of claims.
  • To conduct annual appraisals of Claims Syndicate Executives, Assistants and Associates (the latter in conjunction with the Syndicate Head of Claims).
  • To be available to handle Member issues that may arise outside office hours.

Person Specification:

  • Previous experience handling complex P&I and FD&D claims, from either another P&I club, insurer, law firm or shipowner.
  • Proven management experience
  • Excellent communication skills fluent in Greek and English
