(www.MaritimeCyprus.com) The EU Commission implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/2449 laying down rules for the application of MRV as regards templates for monitoring plans, emissions reports, partial emissions reports, documents of compliance, and reports at company level has been published on 6 November 2023 and repeals Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2016/1927.
No major modifications have been introduced with respect to the detailed description provided in MNO No.206. However, it is worth reminding the key dates for the preparation, verification and approval of the MRV monitoring plan.
MRV MONITORING PLAN: KEY DATES
By 1 January 2024
The MRV monitoring plan should be prepared on the basis of the standardized templates included in the above-mentioned published Regulation (Reg. (EU) 2023/2449).
Companies should send the updated ship’s Monitoring Plan to their RO, as soon as possible, allowing sufficient time for the assessment of the Plan before the start of the next reporting period (i.e. 2024) and for submission of it in THETIS-MRV once such capability becomes available by the said platform.
From 1 January 2024
The updated plan is to be uploaded on the THETIS-MRV platform once available and assessed by the verifier.
By 1 April 2024
The updated plan uploaded on THETIS-MRV platform and already assessed by the verified is to be sent to the assigned administering authority for approval.
